Millions of Americans use TikTok everyday. The Chinese owned social media app controlled by the company Byte Dance. It has gained popularity in recent years, especially in the United states. Since TikTok spike in usership, the app has incited a lot of controversy, with the current debate about whether or not there should be a complete ban on the app in the United states. Many are concerned over TikTok data collection and user privacy policies especially because it is a foreign owned company. There is a rock that confidential information about American citizens could be exposed and the US government could be exposed. Thus a TikTok ban is necessary in order to keep the country safe by preserving the privacy of Americans and keeping national secrets hidden from a hostile nation.

To start with Tik Tok data collection goes beyond simple word’s recommendations tailored to user interests. The app has access to the personal information of users and could sell their information to organizations that want to use it for nefarious reasons.

The Chinese Communist party in particular has control over all Chinese businesses even if they are not officially affiliated with the CCP in communism,there are no completely privately owned businesses,meaning that the chinese government can force Byte Dance to turn over private data about American citizens because the US and China are not on friendly terms,it is highly likely that the CCP could use this information to target vulnerable American citizens.a complete ban of Tiktok would eliminate this threat and keep our people safe.

In addition to the security of ordinary people Tiktok also threatens the US government as a whole. Social media is a powerful tool that the CCP can use to spread communist and anti-American propaganda. Although those ideas should be allowed under freedom of thought and speech they could potentially incite resistance against the American people and government.

Hate is east to spread on internet platforms, especially ones with as much influence as Tiktok. In the wrong hands it could be a very dangerous thing. Anti-American hate perpetrated by the CCP could inspire terrorist organizations (domestic and foreign) to assault vulnerable citizens and important government officials. The only way to eliminate this threat to national security is to ban Tiktok. Thus, a Tik Tok ban is necessary to ensure the safety of our country. The app has a history of bad data collection policies that target the private information of Americans and can easily be exploited by the Chinese government the CCP can also use the app to speed anti American hate and violence, threatening the security of our nation and government as a whole those who argue against the a ban state, that Tik Tok data, even if given to the CCP, are not important enough to deal real damage.However, there are concrete examples to the contrary, such as a incident where a reporter was tracked down using Tik Tok data and harassed.
