Plenty of kids enjoy the healthy school lunch, but what about those who do not enjoy and wishes to have more? In this short writing, I will tell you why I think NSLP should provide more and even snacks in our lunches. Before 2010, students had your normal dairy, five meal plate products to eat. However, vending machines were a thing since 1888, which served students a chance to purchase a snack, such as chips, flavorable drinks, and even gummy items and rice crispy treats if wanted, until Michelle Obama made the decision that our school lunches were not healthy. Sure, I could say that chips are not healthy but those were low fat-free chips that had to be paid for. I interviewed my 5 classmates and gathered their honest opinions on how they felt about the school lunches before 2010, and how they think it impacted their life. Based on what I received, 100% thought that it was not better and that they did not enjoy it. Some kids today without chances to afford lunch or be able to get it at home are looking forward to eating at lunch only to come to things they don’t enjoy. Not to mention the portions at lunch aren’t enough to fulfill those same kids. I think we should be taking a survey and have a variety of lunches we would want and that we can enjoy.
