Commitment Contract

As a participant in the Law & Leadership Institute (LLI), it is without question that you have displayed the characteristics of an academically and generally well rounded student. In your quest to prepare for college and for becoming a leader in your community, it is the responsibility of LLI faculty to guide you in that pursuit. While it is the intent of LLI faculty to present material through meaningful and engaging methods, you have a responsibility to commit to this program in its entirety, and glean as much information and understanding from this program as possible to fuel your progression into college and if you choose, careers in law. To that end, and to aid in your best possible program outcomes and experiences, LLI participants must agree to:

  1. Attend all LLI predetermined sessions. (Exceptions determined on a case by case basis if pre-approval is sought.)

  2. Commit to prioritizing LLI participation for the entire 4-year program.

  3. Communicate timely with LLI staff about potential conflicts in schedule or difficulties with the work.

  4. Complete all LLI homework assignments.

  5. Actively listen during program lectures and guest speakers. Active listening includes but is not limited to:

    • Giving your undivided attention to LLI speakers or classmates who have the floor

    • No cellphone usage

    • No side conversations (unless pertinent to the discussion topic)

    • No distracting actions that may disturb your fellow classmates such as loud gum chewing, or getting up and down from your seat

  6. Actively participate in group discussions and activities.

  7. Display respect for LLI faculty, guest speakers and classmates.

  8. Act and dress professionally while participating in Law & Leadership sessions.

  9. Try your best in and outside of class.

10. Have fun as you learn!
